A Bamboo Forest

Bamboo Forest

A little bamboo forest in a park in Saitama.

Being from the Pacific Northwest, wild bamboo isn’t exactly something I saw a lot of growing up. It was an exotic plant to me, redolent of Asia. In Japan, however, you don’t have to try very hard to find some bamboo and, while it was only exciting the first couple of times, I do still love seeing little forests of it. This picture was taken in a park in Saitama, at the very end of the Tobu-Tojo Line, in November 2008.
