Photo Post: Rural Japan

These photos are actually all from the same place (Ikina Island in the Seto Inland Sea, between Shikoku and Hiroshima), but Ikina is pretty much a textbook example of rural Japan. It’s a side of Japan that doesn’t get as much play, which makes it a good blogging subject!

The gate of the island’s shrine.

The town.

Japanese cemeteries are always like this.

The island is very green and beautiful.

While I wouldn’t want to live somewhere so isolated, I did enjoy my visit. It’s a lovely place.

Any thoughts?
